PROJECTS OF THE PAST: Badab War Astral Claws – Tyrant’s Legion Force

Hi there guys and gals, I am here again with another PROJECTS OF THE PAST post, this time I am going to look at the Warhammer 40,000 Badab War army I did a few years ago……..

Astral Claws Tyrant’s Legion Livery

It was a time before Unbound lists and Allies but the thought of having a mixed Guard and Space Marine list was VERY Tempting…….in the Badab War Book (part of the Imperial Armour Series of books from Forge World) there is a list that allows just that……..and so the Tyrant’s Legion project began.

I no longer own this army, it is know in the safe hands of an American Serviceman but I really enjoyed the project and was a tough one to part with but it allowed me to start work on my Horus Heresy Era Imperial Fists. Take a look through the pictures and drop me a comment as to what is your favourite part of the build!

BOOTLEG PANOCEANIA MODEL

This was a fun commission for Mike Johnson aka MJCABOOSE and was a great model to paint, didn’t take the best picture of her to be honest but you get the general feel of the model from the picture provided below. Hope you like!

Pan Oceannia – Neoterra Bolt – Cosplay Edition

PERSONAL PROJECT – GERMAN RSO

As I have said in my blog post about my German 78th Sturm Division Heer force I am slowly building it up to be a fully mechanised force for Tank Wars, the Bolt Action Supplement from Warlord Games. This is a tow for my artillery piece and it is a Raupenschlepper Ost or RSO which litterally means Caterpillar Tractor East. This is a JFTM PRODUCTIONS Model from the  DIE WAFFENKAMMER range.

Warzone Resurrection – BAUHAUS Army Commission Showcase

Well guys and gals a month has passed and I haven’t played a Wargame……….I am feeling serious withdrawl symptoms!!! I have however begun painting again and as those close to me know it is the painting side of the hobby that I enjoy the most and as such I am one happy Hobbyist! So without further ado I will begin this months blog post coming to you direct from Scorpius GLC’s “World of Wargming” Studio!

Untitled14Warzone Resurrection has been on my viewfinder since it originally went to Kickstarter, at that time I couldn’t invest but after an AWESOME Demo Day buy Ant and the guys from Leicester Phat Cats the other month I knew this game was for me!!! I set about deciding on factions and found it really difficult to choose just one as I really liked the Capitol, Dark Legion and Bauhaus. I finally decided on Capitol for myself and Dark Legion for my son (as he loved the Demo he had), so I saved up my pennies and bought the Rulebook, the Capitol Starter Set and the Dark Legion Starter Set……..but oh how I wish I could have got the Bauhaus as well……..well luckily for me I was given a commission to paint up a Bauhaus Army for Sunjeev from Portal Wargaming Centre!!

The brief from Suni was that he wanted the force to be bright and I had just the plan for this force…White and red armour with dark blue/grey uniform, to go with this I also went with destroyed Moon Base themed bases. Here are the models that I have painted as part of the commission, drop me a comment and let me know what you think!!

Thanks for taking your time to read this blog post and looking at my painting, I hope you like what you see as I really enjoyed this project! As I said above this commission allowed me to show the love that I had for the faction without having to buy a third faction!

Primarch Commisions – Lorgar & Ferrus Manus

20140312-002651.jpg

The world of Pre and Heresy Era gaming has exploded since the guys over at Forge World started producing gorgeous resin models of not only Heresy Era troops but Primarchs as well! They have currently got the models out for Angron – Primarch of the World Eaters, Fulgrim – Primarch of the Emperor’s Children, Lorgar – Primarch of the Word Bearers and Ferrus Manus – Primarch of the Iron Hands. It is the later two that I have had the privilege to paint as commission pieces.

I can honestly say that these were some of the finest models I have had the pleasure to paint, the sculpts are lovely and capture great amounts of atmosphere and really bring the characters to life!

First up is Ferrus Manus – Primarch of the Iron Hands……

This was always going to be a difficult one as the predominate colour is black, especially as the customer requested the dead marines be Iron Hands. I think I have broken the black up with the use of red on the weapon casings and the green glow of the plasma coil. Black is also a difficult one to capturer well but I feel happy with the finished piece and the client is EXTREMELY pleased!

Last up is my favourite of the two models, Lorgar – Primarch of the Word Bearers……

20140312-001608.jpg

Such a subtle stance and wonderful details in the face really bring the character to life…caged power! The Client wanted grey armour and flesh face and I have added regal red to the cape and piping, the new colour of his legion’s armour. I adored painting this model and was so pleases with the overall finish that I didn’t want to hand it over (one of the downsides to being a commission painter).

I really hope you like my work! Let me know which is your favourite.
